Best Social Distancing-Safe Beach Activities in Orange County

Orange County is well known for its pristine coastline and relaxed lifestyle—and when it comes to ways of spending time at the beach while social distancing, there’s no shortage of options. Here are some of our favorite beach activities.

Surfing – There’s a reason the Vans US Open of Surfing is held in Huntington Beach every year! Head to the south side of the pier if you’re in the area, or drive south to the Wedge, Trestles, or T-Street Beach for some of the best waves around.

Picnics on the Sand – Grab a plate from beach-close spots for lunch with a side of ocean breeze. Some local favorites include gourmet sandwiches from Sessions West Coast Deli, fresh poke bowls and sushi from Bear Flag Fish Co., and pizza from Cruisers Pizza and Mama D’s Italian Kitchen.

Shopping – Take a stroll from the sand to the art galleries of the Laguna Beach Village or the upscale boutiques of Corona del Mar. You’ll impress friends with handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing, jewelry, art, and furniture.

Get Moving – Exercise becomes fun when you add in beautiful scenery. We recommend the steps at Thousand Steps Beach and the Top of the World hike in Laguna Beach, as well as the beautiful nature walks of Crystal Cove State Park.
