The Orange County Oil Spill – How You Can Help

A massive oil spill reported on Saturday, October 2 off the coast of Huntington Beach has devastated some local wildlife and forced park and beach closures throughout the area. In the spill, about 127,000 gallons of crude oil was leaked five miles off the coast, resulting in health risks for residents along the coastline as well as animals including birds and fish.

So how can you help? According to the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center that operates out of Huntington Beach, financial donations are sorely needed to buy supplies including towels, soap, medical necessities and care, and more to support wildlife affected by the spill. As the organization needs to keep their parking lot clear to triage animals, they kindly request that supplies not be brought by and dropped off.
