Here are six ways to treat yourself and recreate the perfect spa-like experience.
Heading to the spa is a luxurious treat. Is there anything more enjoyable than pampering yourself and delving into self-care? Hours of massage and facials, nails and steam rooms are always the perfect way to unwind and release tension from your day. But when heading to the spa doesn’t quite fit into your schedule, there are so many ways to recreate that experience right in your own home!
1. Set The Ambiance
The reason going to the spa is so pleasurable is because all of your senses are engaged. Don’t skimp on setting the ambiance with candles, eucalyptus spray, dim lighting, and plush robes. Put on soothing instrumental music to help you get into the relaxation zone, warning you may drift off in your serene setting. For a little extra self-love, make some cucumber lemon water to sip on while in your steamy bath.
2. Invest In Face Masks
Facial masks are a vital component when it comes to having a spa day. Invest in face masks that make you feel a little more luxurious. Begin with a deep cleansing clay mask and work your way up to a moisture sheet mask as the finishing touch. Don’t forget to get eye and lip masks too for an added bonus! If you feel like doing a DIY mask, reach for ingredients such as turmeric, Greek yogurt, honey, and lemon. All of these elements are anti-inflammatory and create soft, supple, and clear skin in no time.
3. Facial Massage Is Key
With our busy lifestyles, we forget how much our body needs a massage to reduce inflammation and relax tense muscles. Although we invest in the work being done on our body, the face is just as relevant. Try ice rolling or using a jade roller for lymphatic drainage. This will increase your glow and allow your facial products to absorb at their optimal levels!
4. Dry Brushing Will Change Your Life
Dry brushing has been around for centuries and is incorporated into many body treatments today. The simple act of dry brushing increases circulation and exfoliates dead skin cells while providing a gentle massage to the entire body. Before jumping into the bath, give your body a quick dry brush moving the brush in an upward circular motion towards your heart. After you shower, be sure to moisturize your skin for a glowy finish.
5. Don’t Forget Your Feet
A pedicure at home may not be the same as getting it done at the spa, but there are ways to recreate the feeling without making the trip! Get a foot mask filled with AHAs to exfoliate dead skin and get rid of any calluses. Since we are on our feet every day, give yourself a foot massage with calming essential oils like lavender and eucalyptus or mix it up with invigorating ones like citrus!
6. Load Up On Hot Towels
Instead of washing your face in the sink in between facials, soak soft cotton towels in warm water and gently wipe away the leftover debris. Try saturating the towels in warm water with essential oils. As you clean away your mask, you will be breathing in all the goodness from the oils and reaping the benefits from their healing powers. Hot towels also feel amazing when applied to your feet!
