On Friday, July 12th, we welcome one of the summer’s most anticipated events: The Orange County Fair. Running for one month through August 11th, the OC Fair offers a delightful chance to try out some of the year’s most binge-able food creations, take a whirl on the tried-and-true rides, and watch a diverse range of performances that includes everything from hypnotism to hip-hop. To take the fun up a notch, we recommend visiting the fair’s following special events so you won’t miss a minute of the action.
Friday, July 12 & Saturday, July 13 | OC Brew Hee Haw
This highly anticipated annual tribute to all things beer includes four hours of unlimited tastings from local breweries, a commemorative tasting glass, free admission to the fair, and live entertainment (presale VIP ticket: $55/person; general admission ticket: $45/person; $10 parking).
Saturday, July 20 | Junior Livestock Auction
During this event, Orange County 4-H and FFA junior members will auction their award-winning livestock (including calves, goats, pigs, and more) to raise money for their post-secondary education.
Sunday, August 4 | 11th Annual OC Fair Fun Run 5K
Rally the troops and get moving at the most fun run of the summer. Registration includes a medal, t-shirt, and free admission to the fair (adult entry ages 16+: $35/person; child entry ages 6-15: $25/person; child entry 5 and under: $5/person).
Various dates July 19 – August 9 | City Day Celebrations
The OC Fair honors local neighborhoods throughout the season in several City Day Celebrations. Support your town on its special day along with city representatives, who will sing the national anthem at a community flag-raising ceremony. Make sure to head down to your local city hall beforehand as well for a coupon offering $2 off your fair admission.
Various dates July 14 – August 11 | The Courtyard Wine Seminars
Every weekend in July and August, oenophiles can sample award-winning varietals from the 2019 OC Fair Wine Competition as well as attend wine-themed seminars with subjects ranging from Cheese & Wine Pairing to Winemaking for Mere Mortals ($10 – $30/person per seminar). Each seminar includes eight one-ounce tastings, a commemorative wine glass, and assorted bites.
