“Sicilian craftsmanship meets state of the art technology” as Dolce and Gabbana join creative forces once again with Smeg, an Italian home luxury appliance company. Just last spring the trio designed 100 lavish hand painted refrigerators that went for upwards of $34,000 each. They are extending their high fashion and high-end technology collaboration with a beautifully inspired small kitchen appliance line. The line includes citrus juicers, toasters, coffee machines, tea kettles, blenders, stand mixers, and slow juicers.
The designers named the collection “Sicily is My Love,” paying homage to Southern Italy where Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana both call home. In honor of their homeland, each product is masterfully decorated with their interpretations of Sicilian folklore and stunning bright hues. Each appliance showcases symbolic statements such as Mount Etna, ornamental friezes, decorative acanthus leaves, lemons, prickly pears, and bright red cherries, along with floral designs seen on the D&G runways.
