It’s difficult to believe, but the summer days are winding down and kids will soon be heading back to the classroom. To help with back-to-school shopping and also to extend summertime fun, the Back to School: Endless Summer Festival returns to Irvine Spectrum Center this week from August 18-20. Since last year’s inaugural event proved to be very popular with visitors to the entertainment and retail center, the festival is being expanded to three days this year.
A lineup of engaging activities is scheduled across the center on all three days from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and among the highlights is a live acoustic performance from rising Canadian pop-star Alessia Cara on Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Giant Wheel Court. Currently on tour with Coldplay, Cara will perform hits such as “Here” and “Wild Things” from her debut studio album, Know-It-All. Other activities include an Active Ride Shop Skate Village at Edwards Court, which features multiple skate ramps for open skating sessions to the public, as well as demos and lessons from pro skaters; an Open-air Yearbook Photo Booth at Carousel Court; and a Nordstrom Beauty Lounge Airstream at Giant Wheel Court, which will feature complimentary hair styling by T3, in addition to beauty makeovers by MAC and Dior.
Additionally, shoppers will be able to attend in-store parties each day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at select retailers including Anthropologie, Irene’s Story, Cotton On, Old Navy, Active Ride Shop, Hurley | NIKE SB, Quiksilver, Windsor, and Tillys. Although the kids might not be thrilled about their carefree, summer days coming to an end, the Back to School: Endless Summer Festival is guaranteed to make the back-to-school shopping season an enjoyable one.
As a popular entertainment and lifestyle destination, Irvine Spectrum Center is visited by more than 17 million people on an annual basis. Along with more than 130 stores, restaurants and entertainment venues, the center is home to the country’s most successful Improv Comedy Club, in addition to Orange County’s most popular movie theater—a 6,400-seat, 21-screen movie theater with an IMAX screen.
